Nasty Women in Art

That daredevil, Rosa Bonheur! Dressed as a man in the 1850s to avoid detection at the Paris horse fair, Rosa snuck in to sketch the horses she loved. Her canvasses, at a massive scale unheard of for a female artist, took the snooty art world by storm and put a woman on the map as a painter of keen talent. This gossipy tour will look at paintings and sculpture by or about women who dared to break into an elite male bastion -- and made it!
(At the Metropolitan Museum of Art).
